Full-time Move On Officer

at The Jeya Group in Sunderland

We are looking for a Move On Officer that will provide advice, support and assistance to those who have been identified as rough sleeping placed in temporary, emergency or short-term accommodation by managing expectations surrounding their move on options, and identifying any support needs to help them sustain future accommodation utilising a full range of housing options including supported, social and private rented sector accommodation

Key responsibilities:

• To visit customers within their accommodation ensuring they have the appropriate tools to support their move on options.

• To deliver general needs housing advice.

• To engage and liaise with internal and external bodies around accommodation solutions and support.

• To work with customers, team members and accommodation / support providers to ensure Personalised Housing Plan’s deliver successful outcomes.

• Provide relevant and accurate information to customers, colleagues, and partner organisations, delivering services to the required standard, whilst ensuring complex issues are escalated to the appropriate manager.

• To manage, maintain and monitor their own workload to meet identified targets and deadlines, in accordance with current standards and procedures.

• Ability to work independently and / or as part of a team to provide solutions to ensure work is carried out in a timely, professional, and accurate manner ensuring work is delivered within timescales and tasks are appropriately prioritised.

• Use of MS office applications such as Word for reports and minutes and Excel for creating and maintaining spread sheets.
• To complete and action move on plans that support and deliver the aims of the customers Personalised Housing Plans as legally required within the HRA 2017.

• To adopt a casework approach in supporting customers to action tasks within their PHPs and Move on Plans and ensue consideration of all suitable interventions and potential solutions to achieve move on into settled and suitable accommodation that can be sustained

• To make referrals to engage relevant and specialist intervention on behalf of customers to support them with specific problems e.g. substance misuse, mental health, debt management, benefits and council tax.

• To promote and support the delivery of all housing pathway options including commissioned and non-commissioned supported, private rented sector and social housing with the application of the Councils Allocations policy

• Attend multi agency meetings relevant to specific cases and provide relevant information to the panel.

The candidates must have:

• Experience of working within a housing, homelessness or support related service.
• Experience of supporting vulnerable people
• Experience of building relationships with accommodation providers
• A good track record of providing and delivering effective solutions for housing, vulnerable people, and homeless people.
• Experience of working with a range of partners to deliver innovative housing solutions.
• Knowledge of current Housing and Homelessness legislation.
• In depth knowledge of vulnerable people and the housing challenges they can face.
• Ability to deal with people effectively and sympathetically in sometimes difficult and sensitive situations.
• Ability to liaise with other agencies in order to achieve the best results for all concerned.
• Ability to write, implement and support people through support plans.
• Be able to communicate effectively verbally, in person or over the telephone, and in writing to share and obtain information. Be computer literate and be able to prepare documents, record information and input data.
• A caring approach and a desire to achieve a high quality of life for customers and to deliver high quality tailored services to meet their needs and exceed expectations.
• Ability to organise a caseload and work with minimum supervision but also be able to work as part of a team and support other colleagues in their roles.
• Able to persuade, negotiate and influence effectively while being confident and self-assured when meeting new people.
• Ability to adapt behaviour to suit situations as well as being able to deal with opinions and feelings while also concealing your own emotions or feelings.
• Pay attention to detail especially while handling facts, figures and numerical data.
• Able to see tasks through to completion, ensuring they are completed on time or to deadlines and to a high degree of accuracy.

• A clear enhanced DBS will be required for the post
• A requirement to work out of normal office hours as part of the homelessness out of hours service

37 hours per week 8:30am - 5:00pm, Monday to Friday To provide advice, support and assistance to those who have been identified as rough sleeping placed in temporary, emergency or short-term accommodation by managing expectations surrounding their move on options, and identifying any support needs to help them sustain future accommodation utilising a full range of housing options including supported, social and private rented sector accommodation Laptop etc will be provided.

Pay Rate: £14.91 p/hr
