As the Micro-Algae Plant Production Manager, you will oversee all aspects of the micro-algae operations. This includes managing plant growth cycles, optimizing growing conditions, overseeing packaging processes for quantity and quality, leading the operational team, coordinating maintenance, and implementing best practices to maximize yield and quality.
The ideal candidate will have a strong background in food and beverage processing, plant science, microbiology, horticulture, hydroponics, or micro-algae systems, with expertise in process operations, aquatic chemistry, and water treatment. Strong leadership skills and the ability to thrive in a high-pressure environment with stringent production requirements are essential.
Minimum Requirements:
Bachelors degree in Agronomy, Horticulture, Plant Science, Microbiology, or a related field (Masters degree preferred).
3-5 years of hands-on experience in micro-algae farming, food and beverage processing, or related industries.
Strong knowledge of plant physiology, nutrient management, and micro-algae systems.
Proven leadership experience with excellent problem-solving and team-building skills.
Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and adapt to changing priorities.
Duties and Responsibilities:
General Management:
Lead the daily operations of the micro-algae production facility, ensuring smooth and efficient production, maintenance, quality control, and packaging processes.
Strategically allocate resources to maximize production efficiency and minimize waste.
Develop and oversee the production budget, ensuring operations are cost-effective.
Ensure all micro-algae farming and food safety activities comply with local, provincial, and state regulations.
Identify and implement process improvements to enhance productivity and product quality.
Technical Management:
Ensure optimal light, temperature, humidity, and nutrient levels for various micro-algae species to maximize yield and quality.
Oversee the maintenance and operation of micro-algae systems, troubleshooting and resolving technical issues as they arise.
Adhere to nutrient delivery schedules, adjust for the specific needs of different batches, and provide feedback on optimization opportunities.
Use data from sensors and monitoring equipment to make informed decisions about environmental adjustments and resource management.
People Management:
Lead, train, and supervise a team of micro-algae plant and laboratory technicians, fostering a collaborative and positive work environment.
Conduct regular performance evaluations, provide constructive feedback, and develop improvement plans for team members.
Identify training needs and provide ongoing education on best practices, safety protocols, and new technologies.
Quality Control:
Supervise quality control activities in the on-site laboratory and manage laboratory staff.
Regularly monitor micro-algae plant health and growth to ensure compliance with quality specifications, promptly addressing any issues.
Conduct routine inspections to ensure adherence to health, safety, and good manufacturing standards.
Maintain detailed records of micro-algae plant growth, environmental conditions, and production metrics.
Inventory and Resource Management:
Oversee the inventory of inoculum cultures, nutrients, and other plant supplies.
Ensure resources are used efficiently to minimize waste and reduce costs.
Work with suppliers to maintain adequate stock levels of necessary materials.
Reporting and Analysis:
Prepare regular reports on production performance, including yield, quality, and resource usage.
Analyze data to identify trends, areas for improvement, and opportunities for increased efficiency.
Present findings and recommendations to senior management and prepare regular management accounts, reporting any budget variations.
