Federated Hermes, Inc. is seeking an Accountant I based at our Pittsburgh headquarters. This position will be supporting the Corporate Financial Reporting department. The successful candidate will be responsible for assisting in the preparation of monthly, quarterly, and annual audited financial reports as week as assisting with monthly accruals and analysis of corporate expenses.

What You’ll Do:

• Assist in the preparation of consolidated financial statements and footnotes.
• Assist in the preparation and analysis of monthly, quarterly, and annual reporting.
• Analyze various assigned general ledger accounts detailing major items and significant variances for review at management meetings and for year-end audits.
• Code and enter various accounting entries into the accounting system. Ensure through research and discussions with management that the proper accounting treatment is being applied.
• Reconcile and monitor assigned balance sheet accounts on a monthly basis.
• Develop an understanding of assigned subsidiary business in order to analyze all account activity and balances on the subsidiary financial statements.
• Assist in the preparation of assigned subsidiary stand-alone financial statements.
• Develop an understanding of GAAP, SEC and FINRA reporting requirements.
• Assist in the research of various regulatory/reporting requirements.
• Review operating methods and procedures to promote efficiencies. Maintain up-to-date written procedures and job aids for all assigned responsibilities.
• Demonstrate a cooperative attitude and effective interpersonal and communication skills with clients, coworkers and vendors.

The Expertise We are Looking For

• Bachelor degree in Accounting required.
• Proficiency in personal computing specifically in Microsoft Word and Excel required.
• In-Progress or completion of the CPA exam preferred.
• Financial services industry experience preferred.
• Knowledge of Oracle financials preferred.
