Position: Principal Engineer / Team Lead
Location: Billerica, MA
Duration: 3Months (Contract to hire)
We are seeking a Principal Engineer/Team Lead to direct a high performing, fast paced a team developing custom, SaaS-based solutions. The successful candidate will have the experience, passion and commitment for leading a team of high caliber software engineers to develop top quality software. This individual will plan, schedule, staff and track projects to meet requirements, with a keen sense of business requirements. The successful candidate will mentor software engineers and ensure they have effective support to grow their capabilities.
Responsibilities
Leading, coaching, and managing a geographically dispersed team of engineers and specialists
Understanding our needs, risks and making appropriate technology decisions
Building web-based custom and product-based application
Working with several large and complex SQL Server and Oracle Databases
Developing software algorithms to streamline back end business workflow
Producing robust, elegant and scalable software that performs well under high load
Being creative and resourceful to solve complex business challenges
Must display exceptional knowledge & demonstrated competence in full life-cycle development
Must be able to meet deadlines and deliver high quality software on time
Work cooperatively with architects, engineers and product managers to design the product
Ability to work with offshore development teams and projects is needed
Effectively work with cross functional teams such as data services, QA, user interface and platform teams
Qualifications
BS or a graduate degree in computer science or other related technical fields
10+ years of experience in developing & designing data integration platforms & data management applications
Solid leadership abilities
Develop & learn skills in very complex current architectures and applications
Skill with high volume distributed application development in a SaaS environment
Proven problem-solving & analytical abilities, mainly as it associates to application infrastructure, design, & development
Solid architecture & design abilities in data management products & data integration platforms
Hands on Custom Development with Oracle, JDBC, Java, JMS, Linux, Database design and performance
Exceptional debugging, object oriented programming, code organization, & unit testing abilities
